Halfmoon is a large area of land named after its shape, located on the west side of the Hudson River in Onslow County, NC. The tract of land was purchased from Native American Indian tribes of Mohican and Iroquois by Dutch traders Philip Pietersz and Goosen Gerritsz in 1667.
